Canon RF 50mm f/1.4 L VCM Lens - 1745488

The RF50mm F1.4 L VCM is part of the expanding Hybrid lens series, targeting a wide range of still-image and video shooters, with a combination of wide-angle coverage, a fast f/1.4 maximum aperture, and excellent image quality. On a full frame camera this lens gives you a Standard-angle look which has for decades been the most "all-purpose" focal length for photos and videos. On the video side, this lens really shines with a dedicated manual Iris ring, and a linear focus motor called a VCM (Voice Coil Motor) that is virtually silent.  The VCM works in tandem with a Nano USM (Ultrasonic Motor) on the floating focus unit for incredibly fast autofocus.  And finally, focus breathing is barely noticeable on this incredibly versatile lens , minimizing distractions for your viewer, and keeping your imagery and story as the priority.

What our Experts Think
  • Iconic standard perspective: The 50 mm focal length delivers a natural, versatile field of view that excels for portraits, street, documentary, and everyday photography.
  • Fast f/1.4 aperture: Wide f/1.4 lets you shoot confidently in low light and achieve creamy background blur that beautifully isolates subjects.
  • Smooth, precise autofocus: Voice Coil Motor (VCM) provides quiet, accurate focusing—excellent for both stills and video.
  • Premium L‑series optics: Constructed with high‑grade glass and advanced coatings, this lens delivers excellent sharpness, contrast, and color fidelity across the frame.
  • Robust build quality: Weather‑sealed construction and refined handling make it a dependable choice for demanding shooting conditions.
  • Great for hybrid shooters: Minimal focus breathing and smooth transitions make it a strong option for creators working in both photo and video.
  • Pair with IBIS for best low‑light: Without built‑in stabilization, using this lens on a body with in‑body image stabilization improves handheld low‑light performance.
