Maintenance Tips
  • Rinse the second stage and hose with fresh water after each dive to remove salt, sand and chlorine — contaminants that can corrode internal parts over time.

  • Do not press the purge while rinsing; avoid forcing water into internal mechanisms.

Soak Properly

  • If possible, pressure‑soak the regulator assembly on a cylinder in warm fresh water for ~30 min; otherwise, soak the second stage with the inlet cap on. This dissolves trapped salt crystals.

Dry Thoroughly

  • After rinsing/soaking, wipe dry and hang in a shaded, ventilated area away from direct sunlight and heat. Store with hose loosely coiled.

Inspect Before Each Dive

  • Check the hose, mouthpiece, O‑rings and purge cover for cracks, wear or damage. Ensure the yellow‑coded octopus hose and fittings are secure.

Annual Service

  • Have the octopus (and full regulator set) inspected and serviced annually by an authorized technician — or more often if heavily used — to refresh seals and check internal performance.

Gentle Handling & Storage

  • Protect the backup from impacts, chemicals and abrasion when transporting or storing; use a padded gear bag. Keep away from excessive heat, UV and oils.
