Built to be the professional choice for the "normal" 50mm focal length, the Leica Summilux-SL 50mm F1.4 ASPH is built to deliver the highest optical performance in the full frame class. The 50mm Summilux-SL is the new reference lens for this class of camera. 

The 50mm Summilux-SL features an all new motorized focusing system. Different from that of the 50mm prime lenses Leica photographers might be used too in the Leica M system, the 50mm Summilux-TL features an entirely internal form of focusing allowing for the overall shape and length of the lens to remain intact while focusing from infinity to close focus. The optics of this lens contain a total amount of 11 elements, 2 of which are aspherical, and 4 of which are anomalous partial dispersion which corrects for further chromatic aberrations.  The combination of the 50mm Summilux-SL's sophisticated optical makeup and advanced multilayer coatings on all lens surfaces reduces aberrations to a minimum and raises the overall performance the lens to an entirely new standard.
